We will be collecting food for Urban Mission again this year with our Reverse Advent Calendar! We are all used to the "standard" Advent calendar, in which a child finds a small treat or toy each day as they count down to Christmas. Our Reverse Advent Calendar prompts us to remember those less fortunate by providing a suggested food donation each day that can be brought to the church for delivery to the Urban Mission Food Resource Center.
The Urban Mission Food Resource center provides their clients an opportunity to get food they might not otherwise be able to afford through a shopping experience that allows families to get that they need, as opposed to what is prescribed for them. Knowing that there will be a period of time those families will not be able to access school lunches, you will notice that many of the options are foods that kids will need.
