Some scriptures comfort us. Others challenge us. Today's scripture is a challenge. It tells us that discipleship will be hard. But how hard? The word hate in today's scripture, when viewed at face value, almost seems to make the call to discipleship impossible; at the very least counter to the message of the rest of the Bible. However, Mitch helps us understand Jesus and this message of sacrifice rather than emotion or personal desire.
