Our Core Values:
A Relationship with the Trinity
We believe the joyful and committed relationship of each member of Santa Fe Presbyterian Church to our God is of the utmost importance. The Triune God, God in the three persons of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit continues to be active in our lives and the life of our community; guiding, inspiring, nurturing, supporting, listening and protecting us as we seek to follow God’s Will. We are Created by our Sovereign God, trust in Jesus Christ as our Savior, acknowledging Him Lord of all and Head of the Church, and sustained by the power and presence of the Holy Spirit, through which God makes all things possible.
We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament, the Holy Bible is the Word of God. It is the unique and authoritative witness to Jesus Christ in the Church universal and is “inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3: 16-17)”
Service and Mission
We believe we are called to ministry in obedience to Jesus Christ, under the authority of Scripture, and guided by the Holy Spirit. We seek to discern our gifts, strengths, resources and opportunities in the face of a world that remains broken and violent with rapidly changing cultural and societal challenges. Responding in love and compassion, we strive to proclaim the Gospel, work for reconciliation, provide for those in need, heal those who are wounded, and build an oasis of hope in Christ; demonstrating our citizenship in theKingdomofGod, in both word and deed.
Christian Growth and Learning
We believe the call of every Christian is to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. This discipleship involves a life-long journey of Spiritual, emotional, moral, intellectual, and relational growth and transformation. We dedicate ourselves to the pursuit of personal and corporate Christian Spiritual Disciplines including prayer, worship, study, and service.
We believe that God has called us to take up Jesus’ Cross and follow him, to walk his path and emulate the life of Christ. His love for us is at the center of that calling, for it is Jesus Christ that has lifted up the necessity of love in our lives. “One of the scribes … asked him, “Which commandment is the first of all?” Jesus answered, “The first is, ‘Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” (Mark 12: 28-31) While speaking to his disciples, Jesus said, “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:12-13)
Our Reformed Heritage
We believe the essential tenets of the Reformed faith as expressed in the confessions of our church are authentic and reliable expositions of Scripture. These tenets uniquely instruct, bring order, and equip our lives as disciples of Jesus Christ. Our Reformed heritage calls into a covenant community centered on the sovereignty and lordship of the one Triune God; meaningful worship; relevant, Biblical teaching and preaching; faithful stewardship; and the strength of the priesthood of all believers.
