Portland. This move gave the organization the space to help many more people. The Urban Mission has come from serving a few families each month to assisting 20,000 people each year in theOklahoma Citymetro area. The Urban Mission operates on a budget of $600,000 a year. These funds are mainly secured from private individual and church donations. The Urban Mission also has secured small grants from foundations in the past. Volunteers are essential to our operation. The community comes together through The Urban Mission to help one another.

God put His Spirit in us so we could be known for our power. Sadly, most believers and churches are known for talent and intellect rather than supernatural power. What’s worse is that we’re okay with it. In Forgotten God, breakthrough author Francis Chan returns us to the Holy Spirit as the Bible describes Him and invites us to understand, embrace and follow the Holy Spirit’s direction in our lives.

The Present Word seeks to facilitate mastery of Bible content; understanding of the Bible in relation to life experiences and a greater awareness of God’s self-disclosure, especially God’s redeeming love as revealed in Jesus Christ.
Participants are invited to reflect on how they might live in faith and love. The Present Word nurtures individual growth of the participants as children of God rooted in the Christian community, life in the Spirit and Christian hope. Discussion and activities encourage participants to live out their faith in their individual and congregational activities.

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on rock.” (Matthew 7:24–25 NRSV)

This parable is the basis for Rock Solid. We want children ages 3-12 to build a strong faith foundation so that when the storms of life overwhelm them (and they will at some time or another), their house of faith will not fall away. It will stand strong and give them the comfort, strength, and shelter found only in a loving God.

At each age level on every Sunday the children will be invited to a faith experience. It is during this time that they can come to a better understanding of God and what God calls them to do and be. They come to know Jesus as the Son of God and take his messages to heart. They seek where the Bible speaks to them today.

Kids’ Club and the Youth Drama Group will present a special performance of “God With A Capital G” on Wednesday evening, May 23rd. The performance will follow the last Wednesday Night Dinner of the school year.

Please make plans to come to dinner and stay to enjoy this musical performance.

A musical Bible story for children which is based on the Old Testament story found in I Kings 18, ‘God with a Capital G’ is filled with colorful activities, humorous lines, and delightful music. A terrible drought has plagued the land and King Ahab blames Elijah for the problems. Elijah squares off with the prophets of Baal in a competition of flaming altars to prove that Jehovah is the one, true God. One thing for sure, when the musical is over, there can be no doubt that our God is spelled with a capital G.

Child abuse isn’t just something that happens somewhere else, it’s right here in Oklahoma.

The Pauline E. Mayer Children’s Shelter in OKC serves children and youth who have been removed from their homes. At any given time, there are 41 children staying at the Pauline E. Mayer Emergency Children’s Shelter inOklahoma City. Last year 1,800 children passed through its doors. About 20 percent of those children had been there before. This is very traumatic for children and they often only have a bag of personal possessions. They are provided basic hygiene products like soap, tooth brush and paste, deodorant. Youth need additional products (helps with self-esteem). The shelter also needs games appropriate for younger children. Below is a list of suggested items for those who would like to make in-kind donations. (Please, no glass, alcohol based products or razors.)

Make-up Bags or Shaving Kit bags (be creative)
FacialWash Body Spray

Your generous gifts to this Offering enable the PC(USA) to encourage, develop and support its young people, as well as provide assistance to at-risk children. The Pentecost Offering is traditionally received on the day of Pentecost (May 27, 2012). It provides a direct way to meet the needs of children at risk, youth, and young adults. Congregations are encouraged to keep 40 percent of the Pentecost Offering to support ministries benefiting these age groups in their communities.

Through PCUSA, the Pentecost Offering provided funding in 2011 for the following purposes:
